The National Space Centre in Leicester will be holding a steampunk event on the 30th November, 2013. The free event starts at 10am and runs until 5pm. It will have a variety of things to do, curiosities to view and fancy goods to buy.
Notable appearances are from Herr Döktor, Doctor Geof and Emilly Ladybird. There are a number of rooms dedicated to various activities such as a Market place for merchants to sell their wares, a Library filled with noted authors and bizarre contraptions from Herr Doktör. The Lounge is available to chat to fellow steampunks and there will be a steampunk 101 session for anyone new to the scene.
On top of that, a Barber shoppe will be available to trim your face furniture from a proverbial second-hand Shackleton high chair, into a finely sculpted chaise longue of a beard. You can also indulge in a little steam engineering of your own at the Abbey Pumping Station to get your pistons pumping before wiping off the factory grime and settling down with a cup of tea and some cake.
Entry to all this is free of charge.
From 7pm until 11, The Saloon at the End of the Universe will be open with gaming tables, comedy shows, a music hall and – naturally – a bar. To enter the Saloon costs £10 and if you wish to explore the wonders of space in the National Space Museum, you need to get a day pass for that.
