I visited the Leeds Christmas Steampunk Market on 30th November. It was held at The White Cloth Gallery on Aire Street. The gallery is a lovely location which has a mixture of modern design and vintage furniture.
The market was held in two rooms to the rear of the gallery. There was a nice mixture of traders from the hand-made spiders of Wildheart, the beautiful illustrations of Jenna Whyte and sculpted leather inventions of McSkelly Leathers to the steampunk contraptions and accessories of Rock & Goth Enterprises.
The day was extremely busy with both steampunks and the general public swarming in to look at the items on offer. I managed to pick up a short blunderbuss with slight damage for £8 and a few brass items to make a telescopic sight in the near future.
I also grabbed a box of buttons from Petty Chapman Historic Costume. David, who was on the stall knows his stuff and had a wonderful story for anything that I looked at.
If you get the chance to pop along to the Christmas market next year, then make sure you put it in your diary as soon as you can. Bookmark Steampunk Journal too, as I’ll be posting information about them as well.
