Penny Dreadful is one of my favourite shows. It’s dark and sinister with outlandish creatures from powerful vampires to naked, pentagram branded witches. In the meantime, the characters are rich, diverse and all have dark secrets that are slowly unfolded for our viewing pleasure.

Series three has had a lot of speculation about new characters including a return of Patti LuPone who appeared in series 2 episode The Cut Woman. However, she will be taking on a different role in the new series.

This first video (above) is a sneak peak at some of the characters with Vanessa narrating as though she’s talking to someone while in a white cell. This could be an actual scene from the new series or maybe something made to set the trailers up. Only time will tell, but it looks fabulous.

The other two videos are teasers with individual names. The first is called Frightened and shows Vanessa coming to terms with the fact that her soul is constantly being coveted by the evil in the world and she seems determined to fight it more than ever. Some of the footage is taken from the sneak peak above but we do see two new characters. Could they be Jekyll and Hyde?

The second teaser is titled Touched by Satan and shows a little more action than Frightened. It shows Lily still in the company of Dorian Grey and a manacled Ethan seemingly changing into the Wolfman.

The screening of Series 3 is advertised as May 1st 2016 in the USA and there’s currently no schedule information for British viewers on the Sky website. In all likeliness it won’t be far behind.
