What is a Blog Tour?
Basically, a blog tour means that several websites come together to post material related to the same thing during a short period of time to help build buzz and drive traffic among the sites. One of the Army of Brass contributors will create a blog post of your choosing, and all you have to do is post it at the appointed time. It could be an interview with one of the writers, an exclusive excerpt, or a guest post. This is a great way to get fresh content for your blog while helping out someone else. It’s a win-win!
Plus, we’re looking for people to do an honest review in exchange for an Advanced Reader Copy. (That’s thinly veiled code for GET A FREE book, folks!) If you sign up to be an ARC reader, you will receive your copy to review. And we’d appreciate if you can also review it on Amazon and/or Goodreads as well. The tour will last from April 13 to May 13, with the book release itself occurring in the middle.
(Psst! You can also hang out with some amazing Steampunk writers on Facebook during our launch event April 28-29 and enter our giveaway!)
What is Army of Brass?
During 2017, I worked with the Collaborative Writing Challenge as a coordinator for their 7th novel. They had done fantasy and science fiction before, but were looking for a fresh genre for their collaboration. When I suggested Steampunk, we realized it was a match made in heaven. Altogether, 20 international authors contributed to Army of Brass, including yours truly. We ended up with an amazing adventure story set in a fantasy land that reflects the culture and technology (both real and imagined) of the 19th century. You can find a longer description of the story at the blog tour signup page, and we’ll be kicking off the tour with a sneak peek at the first chapter right here on the Journal on April 14!
How To Get Involved
All you have to do is visit the signup page to fill out the short survey about your website and the type of material you want to post. We’ve got 11 people signed up so far, not counting ourselves, but the more the merrier! Before the tour begins, you will receive an email with your tailored content, posting schedule, and links to your fellow tour hosts. All you have to do is get the post ready to go on your designated date. Both Steampunk Journal and the Collaborative Writing Challenge will be sharing the tour stops to help people find their way to your site.
If you are a Steampunk author and you are interested in one of our 1-hour “takeover slots” for the Facebook event, please email Phoebe@SteampunkJournal.org. We are especially looking for people located outside of the US so we can have a continuous flow of content in the party, but feel free to email no matter where you are located.
