Steampunk inventor included in new book

MIDDLETOWN: Local steampunk innovator Joe Marsocci will be featured in a new book that displays the creative and twisted works of several steampunk artists throughout the country. Steampunk focuses on an era of steam-powered machinery but usually involves an alternate reality or some sort of science fiction. The book, “The Art of Steampunk, Second Edition” by Art Donovan, features a few of Marsocci’s favorite creations and a short biography. The book features more than 180 artists and exhibits from around the country, talking about their individual styles and unique creations. Why steampunk could take over the world

Before we start, the title isn’t a motivational effort to begin an uprising against governments. It’s actually a very serious suggestion about how the steampunk genre could be the foundation for the future of mankind. You see, for all our dressing up, inventions and fantastic face furniture, we’re sitting on the technology needed to create everyday items without modern materials, such as plastic. Oshkosh Public Museum holds steampunk exhibition

Time travel, ray guns, jet packs, air ship pirates and everything steam-powered. All this, and more, are found in the futuristic and fantastical world of steampunk. Inspired by the literary works of Jules Verne (Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea) and H.G. Wells (The War of the Worlds), steampunk incorporates elements of science fiction, speculative fiction, fantasy, and alternative history. It goes beyond literature, though, influencing a style of clothing, video games, movies and the like.
